Chicken improv comes to Duluth

Rubber Chicken Theater presents eight world-premiere plays, all created in just 24 hours.

Rubber Chicken Theater presents eight world-premiere plays, all created in just 24 hours, during their next go-round of The Chicken Hat Plays at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Harbor City International School Theater, 332 W. Michigan St., Duluth.

The Chicken Hat Plays are sponsored in part by Pizza Luce.

The Chicken Hat Plays are a creative day of theater that starts Friday night, when everyone comes together and tosses prompts into a Who Hat, What Hat, and Where Hat. Eight writers then draw their prompts and a cast makeup, then go home to write up a ten-minute script that incorporates those elements.

On Saturday morning, eight directors and a bunch of actors show up at Harbor City, along with the very tired writers. The directors then draw their scripts and their casts out of more hats and the fun begins. The directors and actors rehearse all day, finding whatever props and costumes they can along the way, and at 7 p.m., all eight shows debut.

In addition to the Who, What, and Where prompts, this version of the Chicken Hat Plays features a Common Cameo, one person with a small walk-on part in all eight plays. Fox 21 News Anchor Dan Hanger performs the cameos.

Tickets are $10. Call 218-213-2780 or email Brian@RubberChickenTheater.com.
