Mission to stop human trafficking

The Love Justice outreach of the Vineyard Church is planning an event designed to draw attention to the real threat human trafficking poses in our greater Twin Ports and Range communities during national Slavery and Trafficking Prevention and Awareness month.

The Love Justice outreach of the Vineyard Church is planning an event designed to draw attention to the real threat human trafficking poses in our greater Twin Ports and Range communities during national Slavery and Trafficking Prevention and Awareness month.

Human trafficking is recognized as a growing problem locally and globally. It’s estimated that between 500 and 1,000 women are trafficked in the Twin Ports at any given time. Globally, more people live in slavery now, than at any time in history. Fighting Sex Trafficking, Standing with Survivors, and Creating Hope brings together local agencies and nonprofit groups for the effort.

The evening includes a screening of the short film “Love Justice,” an opportunity to ask questions of a panel of local experts and learn about opportunities to get involved in the campaign to stop human-trafficking.

To educate the community and raise money to help local victims, Duluth Vineyard Church hosts the event 6-10 p.m. Jan. 25 at the church, 1533 W. Arrowhead Road. Register online at www.duluthvineyard.org or call the church at 218-525-3462.
