Anthony J. "Tony" Fedyn, 83, of Superior passed away Monday Jan. 14, 2013 in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Anthony J. "Tony" Fedyn, 83, of Superior passed away Monday Jan. 14, 2013 in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 19, 1929 in Superior, the son of Anthony S. and Anna "Peg" (Sobotick) Fedyn.

He graduated high school in 1948 and then served his country for two years in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean conflict. In 1956 he was united in marriage to Elna Johnson.

Tony was employed by the city of Superior as a firefighter and retired in 1985.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1091, the American Legion Post MN0071, the Wisconsin Firefighters Local No. 74 and the Retired Firefighters of Wisconsin.

He enjoyed car shows, swap meets, auctions and especially being with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Elna; his children, Anthony "Tony" Jr. and Kenneth both of Superior and Barbara (Paul) Zastrow of Tomahawk, Wis.; grandchildren, Torrey, Tarrah, Tessa, T'ianna and Tallon Fedyn and Emily and James Zastrow; great-grandchildren, Hayes, Adrianna, Lucia, Landen, Nauni, Ezra, Skyler, Mayson and Raven; a brother, Eugene Fedyn of Tony, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lewis; and twin sons, Joe and John.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass on Saturday, Jan. 19 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

The Superior Fire Dept. Honor Guard will be in attendance for his service. Honorary pallbearers will be active and retired firefighters of the Superior Fire Dept.

Military Rites will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435.
