LETTER: Politicians need constitutional training

To the Telegram: Every time I see some foolish anti-gun politician say you do not need an assault rifle to kill a deer, it really torks me.

To the Telegram:

Every time I see some foolish anti-gun politician say you do not need an assault rifle to kill a deer, it really torks me.

News Flash: It is not about hunting. The 2nd Amendment is about protecting of yourself and others against a corrupt or tyrannical government. What part of “shall not be infringed” do you not understand?

Furthermore, these are not the same weapons used by the military; they are semi-auto look-a-likes. The military uses selectable fire weapons — these are not.

If all these politicians knew even half of what their constituents know, we sure would be better off.

You know maybe before these people are sworn in they should have to take a test on the constitution to know what they are being sworn in to protect.

Here is the oath for congress: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

And for the president: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will do the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The vice president: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

The Supreme Court: “I, [NAME], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as [TITLE] under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God.”

So, for all these oaths swearing to uphold the Constitution, they better take a course on what it actually means because some are walking all over it.
