Superior holds on to defeat Hermantown
The Superior High School boys hockey team defeated the Hermantown Hawks 5-4 Tuesday night at the Hermantown Arena.

Dane Sislo scored 1:21 into the game and Tyler Nystrom scored a power-play goal at 15:22. Grant Hansen scored on Sislo’s goal and Aaron Wakefield-Zubiate and Daniel Burger helped out on Nystrom’s team-leading 15th goal.
The Hawks tied it up in the second period on goals by Travis Koepke and Jake Zeleznikar 22 seconds apart.
Superior regained a 3-2 lead on Daniel Mikel’s short-handed goal with 1:23 left in the second period.
It went to 4-2 in the third period on Aaron Miller’s power-play goal.
Hermantown got within 4-3, but Miller made it a 5-3 game with an empty-net goal with 44 seconds remaining.
The game wasn’t over yet as Hermantown scored 14 seconds later to get within 5-4.
The Spartans were able to kill off the final seconds to improve to 10-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Lake Superior Conference. Hermantown falls to 11-4-1 and 1-2.
Zach Reiswig had 41 saves for the Spartans, who play Duluth East at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the AMSOIL Arena in Duluth.
