Lake Nebagamon man faces felony drunk driving charge

A Lake Nebagamon man accused of driving drunk for the sixth time was bound over for arraignment following a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Douglas County Circuit Court.

Floyd Robert Hull, 40, faces one count felony operation while intoxicated-sixth offense and one misdemeanor count of operating a motor vehicle while revoked stemming from a Dec. 15 incident in the village of Lake Nebagamon.

According to the criminal complaint:

Deputy Ed Gallagher with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department observed a vehicle being driven in an unsafe manner for conditions, which included slushy, icy roads and rain. The driver, later identified as Hull, jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to get inside a trailer house along Harvey Circle. Gallagher noticed Hull was off balance and his speech was slow and slurred. The deputy administered field sobriety tests and Hull performed poorly. He told the deputy he had gone to a local bar to pick up his vehicle and had consumed about five drinks before driving it home. Hull has two prior operating intoxicated convictions and three prior implied consent convictions, the most recent in 2007.

Cash bail of $10,000 was set to cover the operating intoxicated case and a separate disorderly conduct-domestic abuse charge stemming from an October 2010 incident.

Bench warrants for Hull’s arrest have been issued twice for the disorderly conduct charge based on his non-appearance for the disorderly conduct case, according to online court records.

The Lake Nebagamon man was ordered to have no contact with the victim in the disorderly conduct case, not operate a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and not consume or possess alcoholic beverages. He is slated to make his next court appearance Feb. 22.
