Wainionpaa, Krause selected Student Rotarians for December
Alison Wainionpaa and Peter Krause, seniors at Superior High School, have been selected as Student Rotarians for December by the Superior Rotary Club.
Alison Wainionpaa and Peter Krause, seniors at Superior High School, have been selected as Student Rotarians for December by the Superior Rotary Club.
Wainionpaa is a member of the National Honor Society; vice president of the Interact Club, a Rotary organization for high school students; and a member of the high school concert orchestra. She is also a member of the varsity volleyball, basketball and softball teams. In addition, she participates in the Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. Wainionpaa plans to attend the University of Minnesota-Duluth or the Twin Cities next fall to major in chemistry and enroll in the pre-pharmacy program. She is the daughter of Stephanie Wainionpaa.
Krause is a member of the National Honor Society, the high school pep band, and serves as a Senior Mentor. He is a Boy Scout and re-landscaped the Holy Assumption Church rock garden for his Eagle Scout project. For his senior project, he and three classmates planned Tailgate to Recovery, an event that raised more than $118,000 to aid individuals who suffered property damage as a result of June’s flooding. Krause plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to major in wildlife management or secondary education. He is the son of Lynn and Ron Krause.
During the school year, Student Rotarians attend Rotary meetings and provide club members with opportunities to learn about high school programs.
Each year the Superior Rotary Club awards two scholarships to students graduating from Superior High School.
