No. 1 ranked Tritons blank Spartans

Superior will play in third-place game at 1 p.m. Saturday

The Superior High School boys hockey team lost to Green Bay Notre Dame 3-0 in the semifinals of the Duluth Marshall Hilltopper Holiday Classic Friday night at Mars Lakeview Arena in Duluth.

The Tritons, 9-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state of Wisconsin, scored all three of their goals in the second period.

Paxton Paine finished with 25 saves for the Spartans, who had 22 shots on goal.

The Spartans, who fall to 8-3 with the loss, will now play Appleton for third place at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Notre Dame will play Duluth Marshall in the championship game at 3:15 p.m.
