The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse hosts its fourth annual New Year’s Eve Celebration at Barker’s Island Inn. The “Dance To End Abuse” runs 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Proceeds from the event are used for operational expenses in the three county region served by CASDA.

The CASDA Dance to End Abuse New Year’s Eve party features music by the Fractals, appetizers, a balloon drop, and a champagne toast at midnight. A live auction will be held that includes a two-night stay at Heartwood Center Cottage, a Sailboat Charter and Guided Canoe Trip. Local businesses have donated items for a silent auction including spa packages and gift certificates for local restaurants. Tickets are $45 in advance and are available at www.casda.org, Barker’s Island Inn or from the CASDA office.

Major sponsors for the event include: Bachand Group, Barkers Island Inn, Benna Ford Roush, BMO Harris Bank, Paper Capers, SWL&P, Metro Credit Union, RJS Construction, Saratoga Liquor, and Screen Graphics & Uniform Connection.

Since 1988, CASDA has provided supportive services to individuals hurt by domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse while advocating for a community effort to end violence.

In 2011, CASDA provided direct advocacy services to 535 individuals and answered 2,291 calls on its toll-free hotline. There continues to be an increase in the number of victims, reinforcing the need for these services. CASDA is in the process of working to rebuild a facility to accommodate the needs presented to them.
