For the past several years, the library at Superior Middle School has been home to Bear Hugs and Moose Kisses.
The two stuffed animal pals have brought smiles and comfort to the students, and it is time to share those feelings with those in greater need, according to Audra Carlson, a special education teacher at the school.
“As students, educators, parents, siblings and friends, our hearts go out to the families in Newtown, Conn.,” she wrote in an email. “We wish to welcome the kids of Sandy Hook Elementary to their new school with giant Bear Hugs and Moose Kisses. May they find smiles and comfort in the days to come and feel the warmth and love sent to them from northern Wisconsin.”
A number of local businesses made the journey of the two pals possible. They include Lake Superior Cleaners, Engwall Florist and Going Postal in Superior and the Safari in Ashland.
The students are sending a card along with their gift. It reads: “Sending Bear Hugs and Moose Kisses from northern Wisconsin to welcome you to your new school. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers, the students and staff at Superior Middle School, Superior, Wisconsin.”
