Police searched a home in Superior on Thursday as part of their investigation into recent school threats and rumors of violence circulating over social media.
Superior police and the Superior School District together have been investigating reports that rival groups of boys have been exchanging threats of violence over social media, according to a release from the Superior Police Department. Students who had access to some of those posts reported them to school officials.
“The investigation culminated in the execution of a search warrant seeking weapons reported to be concealed at a Superior home,” said the release. “The results of that search showed that information of the presence of concealed weapons was unfounded.”
Police also found no evidence of any plan to initiate violence at Superior schools, the release said.
The Police Department will increase its presence around schools today, police said, not in response to any substantiated threat but to help foster a "safe and secure environment as well as to serve as a deterrence to any criminal activity.”
