LETTER: Bentleyville preachers don’t follow example set by Jesus
To the Telegram: I am a born-again, bible-believing Christian who takes seriously Jesus’ command to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20) I also believe in a Christian’s freedom of speech.

I am a born-again, bible-believing Christian who takes seriously Jesus’ command to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
I also believe in a Christian’s freedom of speech.
However, I am strongly opposed to the method the two men at Bentleyville are using to “save souls.”
For the Christian, Jesus is our ultimate example, and we must look to Him as to how we are to think, speak, act and share the good news of the Gospel. As we read the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ life, we never see Him forcing His way into a crowd of people to preach at them. Jesus was so filled with love, compassion, mercy and kindness that masses of people followed Him. He didn’t have to bully His way into crowds; people sought Him out.
On behalf of my Christian brothers and sisters, I apologize to all who have been offended by the men at Bentleyville and their methods of sharing the Gospel. Please know that all Christians are not like this and not all Christians approve of their ways.
Denise O’Hara,
Duluth
