The Northwestern High School boys basketball team defeated Cumberland 69-24 Tuesday night in the NSH gym in Maple.
The Tigers led 34-18 at the half and a Nick Murray 3-pointer gave them a 51-22 lead after three quarters over the Beavers (1-7, 0-4).
Northwestern (5-2, 2-2) is at Rice Lake at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Girls Basketball
The Tiger girls fell to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Heart O’ North Conference with a 64-38 loss to Ladysmith at home Friday night.
Katie Hanson led Northwestern with 10 points. Beth Gurske added nine points and Amanda Ogren had seven.
The Tigers then defeated Ironwood 49-37 Tuesday night in Michigan.
Amanda Ogren led the Tigers with 16 points; Angela Snow added nine points; Aliex Friend and Gwen Lapole had eight points apiece; and Beth Gurske, Erin Gotelaere, Jordan Johnson and Aleia Lupa chipped in with two points each.
The Tigers are at Hayward at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
