SHS skaters fall at Chippewa Falls

The Chippewa Falls Cardinals defeated the Superior High School girls hockey team 3-2 Friday night in Chippewa Falls.

Sadey Laurvick scored both of Superior’s goals. Her first goal gave Superior a 1-0 lead in the first period, and her second tied the game at 2-2 in the second. Both goals were assisted by Kari Miller.

Justine Stenberg had 21 saves for the Spartans, who had 16 shots on goal.

“It was a tough loss for us,” SHS coach Ernie Harker said. “One bright spot was the play Stenberg, she’s been doing a great job in net.”

The Cardinals’ game-winner came with seven minutes remaining in the third period.

Both teams were called for six minor penalties and there were no power-play goals.

Superior plays at Proctor-Hermantown at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and at Hayward at 7 p.m. Thursday.
