DA works to fill vacancies with some success

Thursday, he announced a vacant full-time assistant district attorney position has been filled.

Shawn N. Woller starts Monday.

Blank said he’s glad to get back to the office’s allocated position despite a statewide shortage of prosecutors.

Woller graduated from Marquette University Law School in May. He served as a student prosecutor with the Waukesha County District Attoney’s office during his third year of law school. Woller is originally from the Mankato, Minn., area, taught English with his wife in China for two years after college graduation (double major in English and Theatre).

Blank also hired the first of two victim-witness coordinators to replace retired 34-year veterans in the office, Mary Russom and Kathryn Senn.

Kevin Giersdorf started Monday after 28 years of service with the Douglas County Department of Health and Human Services.

Douglas County Human Resources continues to assist with receiving applications to fill several vacancies.
