A Superior man will spend two years on probation and six month behind bars for having sex with a minor.

Nathaniel Lee Mattson, 23, pleaded guilty Monday in Douglas County Circuit Court to amended counts of felony third-degree sexual assault and sex with a child age 16 or older, a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to two years of probation and six months in jail for the misdemeanor count. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim, no contact with unrelated minor females, undergo a sexual offender evaluation and pay fines and court costs totaling $379.

A five-year deferred judgment of conviction agreement was entered on the felony charge. If Mattson complies with the terms of his probation and bail, and doesn’t commit any new crimes, the charge would be dismissed in December 2017.

Mattson started to chat with the victim online then, in April 2011, he showed up at the teen’s house and drove her to his residence, where she spent the night and had sex with him. The two had sex about five times during April and May. At the time, the victim was 15 and Mattson was 22. Mattson also sent a picture of his penis to the girl with a cell phone.
