Bayless, Dahl place at Snowflake Invitational

Two Spartan gymnasts broke into the top 10 standings Dec. 8 at the Snowflake Invite in Chippewa Falls.

Holly Bayless led the Superior High School gymnastics team on the beam with a 7.975 score for a ninth place finish, and Emma Dahl placed ninth on the vault with a 8.50.

At Superior’s home meet Dec. 7, the Spartans were edged out by Rice Lake 128.80-125.20 for the team title.

Jessica Engstrom finished third in the all-around, taking second on beam, third on vault and fifth on floor. Giselle Sziron took first on floor and second on vault; Emily Lesage took fourth on beam; and Tay Boykin took fifth on beam.

In junior varsity action, Tay Boykin took second on floor; Emma Dahl took second on vault and third on floor; Kaitlyn DeJesus took fourth on floor; and Cassie Strum took fourth on vault.

Superior is back in action Jan. 12 at River Falls.
