KUWS keeps tradition with Christmas spectacular

KUWS 91.3 FM and WSSU 88.5 FM in Superior, and WUWS 90.9 FM in Ashland present its 22nd annual Christmas Spectacular 6-10 a.m. Dec. 20.

This year’s show features two nostalgic, old-time Christmas shows from Radio Superior, written and produced by News Director Mike Simonson.

Also featured will be the1938 Mercury Theatre production of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” with Orson Welles as Ebenezer Scrooge.

But, the centerpiece of the evening will be the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s A Capella Choir with the 2012 performance of its Season of Song concert. The choir performed the recent concerts for sellout audiences.

The evening schedule runs as follows:

• 6 p.m. Radio Superior Christmas shows from 1929 & 1938.

• 7 p.m. Blue Canvas Christmas with the Blue Canvas Orchestra and Singers from Big Top Chautauqua.

• 8 p.m. UW-Superior A Capella Choir Sounds of the Season concert

• 9 p.m. Mercury Theatre: A Christmas Carol.
