The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center and Kernz & Kompany produced a calendar featuring people many Twin Ports residents will instantly recognize.
The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center and Kernz & Kompany produced a calendar featuring people many Twin Ports residents will instantly recognize.
It’s the second year the historical center and company have teamed up in the effort.
The calendar, “Celebrating Their Service,” pays homage to movies made about World War II or shot during that time frame. The calendar uses historical images and/or movie images and inserts well-known Duluth and Superior people to re-create the famous images.
The calendars are sold for $16.99 at any of the nine Super One Foods Stores. Calendars are available at the customer service desk.
This is one of the very few fundraisers the Bong Veterans Center does “and because of the uniqueness of the calendar, we hope that the calendar project will help fund many of the things that the Bong Veterans Center does in support of area veterans,” said Ryan Kern of Kernz & Kompany.
The calendar features notable community members like Jeff Foster and Toni Fladmark of Foster Trucking; George Hovland, Hovland Construction; Toby Marcovich, Marcovich, Cochrane, Milliken, Swanson & Kropid; Renee Wachter, University of Wisconsin-Superior; Diane Vertin, WITC; Jennifer Carey, Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation; Janna Stevens, Superior school district; Dave Podratz, Calumet Specialty Products Superior Refinery; Rick Smith, University of Minnesota Duluth; Johnny Ringold, Benna Ford; Keith Johnson, Minnesota Teen Challenge; Jim Ringstad, Superior Fire Department; John Eagleton, Northstar Aerospace; Dan Ericksen, Arrowhead Printing; Carl Crawford, Lake Superior College; Gabe Mayfield Sr., Community Action Duluth; Pat Miner, Super One Foods; Mike Lundstrom, Hermantown Chamber; David Ross, Duluth Chamber of Commerce; David Minor, Superior Chamber of Commerce; Scottie Gardonio, Daymark Designs; Darren Danielson, WDIO TV; Sue Ross, Maurices; Pat Mullen, Allete; Kate Horvath, Duluth Playhouse; and Kern.
