Eagle girls fall to Drummond

The Drummond Lumberjacks defeated the Solon Springs girls basketball team 52-37 Friday night at Solon Springs.

“What killed our game was our passes,” said Solon Springs coach Kate Klinzing. “That is all that set us back in the game and brought us down. We had the spark and the intensity, but that fell when the passes were getting picked off and it just took the emotion out of us.”

Bethany Best accounted for nearly half of Dummond’s scoring with 23 points, and teammate Christina Wickington added 17 points.

Autumn Blaylock and Rachel Grubbe both scored nine points to lead the Eagles, and Alicia Jensen and Tylor Kruse added five points apiece.

Drummond shot nearly 80 percent from the free-throw line, making 11-of-14 shots. The Eagles finished the night making 9-of-22 free throws.

Solon Springs is at South Shore Tuesday night.
