UWS track team opens season

The University of Wisconsin-Superior track and field team opened its indoor season at The Open meet Saturday at the College of St. Scholastica.

Superior's Katie Capriglione and Victoria Vinokur finishing 1-2 in the women’s weight throw and shot put.

In the weight throw, Capriglione toss of 55 feet, 5 inches (16.89m) is currently second at the NCAA Division III level and Vinokur is No. 9 with a distance of 48-4.75 (14.75m).

In the shot, Capriglione’s toss of 43-1.75 (13.15m) is second in NCAA D-III and Vinokur, 42-4 (12.90m), is third.

Kenny McGee placed first in the long jump and second in the men’s 200-meter dash. His leap of 22-6.25 (6.86m) is currently seventh in the nation. His time in the 200 was 23.52 seconds.

Cam Tilberg won the mile in 4:40.04, while teammate Charles Corbett placed third in 4:43.90.
