Spartan wrestlers defeat Bloomer/Colfax

The Superior High School wrestling team defeated Bloomer/Colfax 52-22 Thursday night in Bloomer.

The win not only was the first of the season for the Spartans (1-1), but it was the first for first-year head coach Chris Brochu.

Notching wins for the Spartans were Nick Long (106 pounds), Brandon Olson (113), Brock Olson (126), Ross Kennelly (145), Billy Regner (170), Sam Freeman (182), Joey McDonald (195) and Dalton DeRosia (220).

Tyler Lehikoinen (132) and Jake Jaques (138) also won their matches by forfeit.

The Spartans will compete in the Eau Claire North Invitational at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and be at Ladysmith at 7 p.m. Thursday.
