In the spirit of the holiday season, the Richard I. Bong Book Club, Richard I. Bong American Legion Auxiliary, the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 and all volunteers at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center have joined forces, once again, to collect gift donations for the Silver Bay Veterans Home in Silver Bay, Minn.

The community may bring their gifts to the center, 305 Harbor View Parkway, in Superior, through Dec. 14. There is a box located in the lobby for donations. The gifts should be unwrapped. Those donating them may include their name on the present or donate anonymously.

Suggested gift items include shaving and other personal care supplies, blankets, socks, T-shirts, sweatpants, Vikings team apparel, stationery items, stamps, books, magazines and DVDs. All these items would benefit residents living in a group care facility such as the Silver Bay Veterans Home.

Call Hope Swenson or Fran Searle at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center, 715-392-7151.
