Trends Salon and Spa hosted its annual Black and White Affair: Party for a Purpose event Nov. 15 at Barker’s Island, raising more than $5,200 for the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse.
More than 200 people attended the event at Barker’s Island Inn.
The event included service sampling such as chair massages, paraffin dips and sensory journey. Participants were also able to sample wine, beer and martinis, along with food pairings for each beverage. Bucket raffles included numerous items donated by local businesses.
The annual event, hosted by the staff of Trends Salon and Spa, selects a local nonprofit organization as the beneficiary of the Black and White Affair: Party for a Purpose.
This year’s recipient, CASDA, has been providing supportive services to individuals hurt by domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse while advocating to end violence in the community since 1988.
In 2011, CASDA provided direct advocacy service to 535 individuals and answered 2,291 calls through its toll-free hotline.
There continues to be an increase in the number of victims, reinforcing the need for these services. CASDA is in the process of working to rebuild a facility to accommodate the needs presented to them.
