Tiger hoop teams split with Ashland

The Northwestern Tigers improved to 3-0 with a 46-38 win Tuesday night at Spooner.

The Tigers also defeated the Ashland Oredockers 47-36 in the Mackey Opener Friday night in the NHS gym in Maple.

Dylan Jardine led the Tigers Tuesday with 12 points and eight rebounds. Micah Olson added 11 points.

Jardine also led Northwestern on Friday with 21 points. Olson added 11 points, Jeffrey Priem had seven, Trevor Paulus had five, Tanner Follis had two and Braydon Bartelt made a free throw.

The Tigers play at Ladysmith at 7 p.m. Friday.

Girls Hoops

Ashland defeated the NHS girls 35-26 Monday night in Maple.

Kaela Huber led the visiting Oredockers with 13 points, which included two 3-point baskets and 5-of-6 shooting from the free-throw line. Sophie Habas chipped in with nine points.

Aliex Friend led the Tigers with 10 points. Gwen Lapole added six and Hailey Eller had five.

Northwestern was 4-of-10 from the free-throw line, compared to 11-of-17 for Ashland.

The Chetek-Weyerhaeuser-Prairie Farm wrestling team defeated Northwestern 72-6 Thursday night in Maple.

Josiah Vik won the only match for the Tigers by pinning Chetek’s Tristan Stokes in the 126-pound match. The pin came with one second remaining in the first period.

The Tigers are at Hayward at 7 p.m. Thursday.
