The Lake Superior SHARE Food Buying Club Network resumed operations in November after a five month recess. The network is now partnered with Fare For All, a nonprofit warehouse in the Twin Cities.
Orders are due by Dec. 7 in order to be included in the distribution on Dec. 15. In Superior, orders are picked-up at the Peter Rich Community Center. The Solon Springs Community Center hosts the network’s North County Food Buying Club, and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is the location for Iron River’s distribution.
Any resident in northwestern Wisconsin, regardless of age or income, can order meat and fresh produce packages at a 40 percent savings compared to grocery store pricing. The discount is possible because SHARE’s prices do not have to factor in typical overhead expenses; the monthly distributions are hosted in community centers and church halls, and volunteers unload the truck, take inventory and check-out each pre-paid order.
All forms of payment are accepted including checks and money orders, credit or debit cards and EBT food support accounts from FoodShare. Orders can be placed over the phone or online at www.sharefoodclub.org.
Those who prefer to receive an order form by mail can request one at 218-727-2088.
