Rev. James John Jackson, 66, of Radisson, died on Sunday Nov. 25, 2012 at Golden Living Center-Three Oaks in Marshfield, Wis.

Rev. James John Jackson, 66, of Radisson, died on Sunday Nov. 25, 2012 at Golden Living Center-Three Oaks in Marshfield, Wis.

Father Jim was in his 40th year of the priesthood. He was born on May 22, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Darrow and Mary Ann (Burbach) Jackson. He attended Holy Redeemer for grades one-three and Mother of Perpetual Help for grades four-eight. He graduated high school from St. Francis de Sales Preparatory School and then attended St. Francis Major Seminary. In July 1967 Father submitted a request to be released from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in order to apply as a student of the priesthood to the Dioceses of Superior. This request was not approved by Archbishop Cousins. Fr. Jackson was persistent and in Dec. of 1968 he was released by Archbishop Cousins and eligible to apply to the Diocese of Superior. Fr. Jackson was ordained to the Sacred Order of the Priesthood by Bishop George Hammes on May 21, 1972 at the St. Philip Neri Church in Milwaukee.

Father Jim's father Darrow, was a police officer and his mother Mary Ann, a homemaker. Father was the oldest of six children, his siblings include Tom (Kathy) of Saukville, Wis., Bob (Pam) of Pewaukee, Wis., Pat Murphy of West Allis, Wis., Jan Samuel of Wautoma, Wis. and Andy of Rhinelander, Wis. He is further survived by his nephews, Christopher Jackson, Steven Murphy, and Mark Krueger and his nieces, Molly (Marshall) Malmberg, April (Brian), Liana and Katie Jackson, Amy (Peter Frehner) Murphy, Alexia Samuel, Megan (Calvin) Humus, and Haley Jackson.

A visitation will be held at the St. Anthony of Padua Church, 200 5th Avenue South, Park Falls, WI 54552, on Friday, Nov. 30 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at the church.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the Novitzke Funeral Home in Park Falls.
