Hjalmer Hedberg, 93, of Superior, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.

Hjalmer Hedberg, 93, of Superior, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.

He was born Jan. 20, 1919 in Warba, Minn., son of Peter and Anna (Dahl) Hedberg.

On September 9, 1944 in Drummond, Wis., Hjalmer Hedberg and Lois Anderson were united in marriage.

He was employed by the Superior Evening Telegram as a pressman for 40 years.

Hjalmer enjoyed crafts and painting, and after retirement he was a member of the East End Art Club. He was a member of Bayside Baptist Church (Ogden Avenue Baptist Church) for 75 years.

Hjalmer loved and enjoyed his family and was a proud and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by his family and will be missed.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Lester and Charles; and sisters, Ruby, Gladys and Elvera.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Lois; daughter, Ruthann (David) Hammerbeck, Houlton, Wis.; grandsons, Christopher (Sandi) Hammerbeck, Hagerstown, Md., and Eric (Kelly) Hammerbeck, Sumter, S.C.; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Bayside Baptist Church, 3915 N. 16th Street, Superior.

Following the service, committal prayers will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
