A second chance for prom

Arthur’s Formal Wear and Lundeen Productions announced today a shopping event for past and future prom goers. The Prom Shopping spectacular runs Jan. 26-27 and Feb. 2-3 in the Piedmont Plaza Shopping Center.

Arthur’s Formal Wear and Lundeen Productions announced today a shopping event for past and future prom goers. The Prom Shopping spectacular runs Jan. 26-27 and Feb. 2-3 in the Piedmont Plaza Shopping Center.

This prom consignment event offers past prom goers the chance to make money off their beautiful dresses worn only once and hanging in their closet and give future prom goers a chance to wear their dream dress at substantially lower prices.

“With the cost of prom becoming increasingly expensive, this is an opportunity for girls to get a gorgeous dress at a fraction of the new retail price” said Paula Saxin, owner of Arthur’s Formal Wear of Duluth, the region’s leading provider of men’s formal wear.

The Prom Shopping Spectacular is timed just as girls are beginning to plan for the prom.

“There’s no doubt that this region has been in need of something like this for years, and being in the event business, we’ve seen specialty consignment markets like these become very successful around the country,” said Breanna Johnson, an event planner at Lundeen Productions. “I know from personal experience that dresses end up hanging in closets for years following a prom; this is just a great way to give those dresses another chance to be worn.”

Arthur’s Formal Wear is the official drop off location now until the event for items to be consigned for the Prom Shopping Spectacular. Dresses and accessories must be clean and in good condition, and if consignors are not 18, they should bring a parent or legal guardian to sign the sale consent form.

Portions of each of each dress sold will be donated to local youth organizations.
