Solon Springs: The 12th annual Homemade for the Holidays Winter Bazaar takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Solon Springs Community Center, 11523 S. Business 53. Admission is free to the event, which includes 60 tables filled with handmade items.

Superior: The Superior Public Library hosts a children’s book event 4:30-6 p.m. in the classroom featuring ‘Eilert the Gnome Loses Home’ by author and former Superiorite Joy Bashara, illustrated by local artist June Nyberg. The book is first in a series for 5-11 year olds.

Superior: The Superior Singers, under the direction of Brian G. MacDonell, present the 2012-13 Christmas concert “Tonight, Heaven Touches Earth” at 6:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church. The hour-long choral cantata chronicles the coming of the Savior with traditional carols and contemporary songs of praise.

Superior: A special book sale runs 5-7 p.m. at the Superior Library. The Christmas Book Sale kick-off includes holiday decorations and treats by the Friends of the Library and coincides with the City Tree-Lighting at Center City Park. Park festivities start at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of the tree set for 6 p.m. The event will feature hot cider and orange drink, a holiday carol sing-along and a visit from Santa. Free.
Duluth: The UMD Faculty Wind Quintet performs at 7:30 p.m. in Weber Music Hall at UMD. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, students attend for free.

Superior: Parents can drop their children ages infant to fifth grade at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church, 4020 S. Darrow Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and enjoy a stress free day of Christmas shopping during the church’s “Drop and Shop” event. Duluth: The annual Sankta Lucia Celebration sponsored by the Swedish Cultural Society of Duluth begins at 9 a.m. Dec. 8 in the Holiday Inn, Great Lakes Ballroom, 200 W First St, Duluth. The program begins with the procession of Lucia, Maids of Light, Starlights, and Jultomte. Annika Beaupre, a student at Proctor High School, is Lucia. A buffet brunch is followed with music by the Svenska Sangarna. Children will take home a traditional Swedish ornament.
