Leonard “Len” Abrahamson, 95, Iron River resident, died, Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at his home on his birthday.

Leonard “Len” Abrahamson, 95, Iron River resident, died, Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at his home on his birthday.

He was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Lake Nebagamon to Niklas and Lydia (Mattson) Abrahamson.

He worked at the former Farmers Union Elevator now known as the Harvest States Elevator as an Analyst for over 35 years.

Len attended the Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Superior, and was a member of the Douglas County Fish and Game League for many years.

He enjoyed golfing, gardening, working with wood in his woodworking shop. He will be remembered as a mentor to many young people.

Len is survived by one son, David (Darlyn) Abrahamson, Iron River, WI; four grandchildren, David and Deborah Clemensen, Barbara Abrahamson Merrill and Donni Niklas Abrahamson; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Illie Markon and Elaine DeBrock; one brother, Sonny Abrahamson and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Norine of 54 years, daughter Barbara Clemensen, sisters Ina Halverson, Inga West, Ingrid Peterson and Irene Cole and one brother Arnie Abrahamson.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday, Nov. 23 at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home and continue until the 1:30 PM funeral service.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Pallbearers for the service will be David Clemensen, Don Abrahamson, Don Burm, Luke Merrill, Tim Peterson and Sonny Abrahamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Abrahamson, Paul Halverson and Steve Markon.
