Two Superior residents were injured Sunday afternoon when the car they were driving was rear-ended by another vehicle on Martin Road in Duluth.
The crash, which occurred on Martin Road between Drake Road and Howard Gnesen Road, was reported at 12:31p.m., according to a release from Sgt. Wade Rasch with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department. A 2001 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Kathleen Lafave of Duluth collided with a 1994 Lincoln Town Car carrying Superior residents Eric and Lillian Rosenholm. Both vehicles had been traveling eastbound. Lafave's vehicle struck the Rosenholm vehicle from the rear as it was slowing to turn into a driveway. The collision sent the Rosenholm vehicle off the road, totaling both vehicles.
The Rosenholms, who are both in their 70s, were taken by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital with non life threatening injuries. They were released from St. Luke's Monday, according to spokeswoman Louise Ernewein. Lafave, 68, sustained a wrist injury.
The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
