The Chamber Ambassadors are looking for enlightened folks. Entries are being taken for the 2012 Residential Holiday Decorating and Lighting Contest, which includes all of Douglas County.
Sponsored by the Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, It’s free to enter, and every entry nets a $5 donation from the Chamber for the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse.
Entries will be accepted through Dec. 3. Judging runs 6-10 p.m. Dec. 16-18 and prizes will be handed out Dec. 20 for the Ambassadors’ Choice, Best Use of Lights, Spirit Award, Master’s Division and Country Choice.
Everyone who enters the contest is put on a list for light-seekers to find as they travel around the area.
In past years, as many as 100 people entered the contest. Last year, only 20 people did.
Jan O’Brien has been entering the contest for years. She encouraged everyone who puts up decorations to enter.
“If you’re going to do it, why not have other people come see it,” said O’Brien, who works for the Chamber.
It’s free to enter and helps support a great cause, she said. And it’s not always the biggest displays that snag the awards.
To enter, call 715-394-7716, stop by the chamber at 205 Belknap St., email email@example.com or visit www.superiorchamber.org.
O’Brien said more judges are also being sought to tour the light displays. For more information or to volunteer, email her at the above address.
