St. Mary's Springs wins Division 6 title

MADISON (AP) — Fond du Lac St. Mary's Springs senior quarterback Evan Henderson threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another as the Ledgers beat Eau Claire Regis, 24-14, to win the WIAA Division 6 championship at Camp Randall.

Henderson completed 14 of 17 passes for 144 yards and no interceptions. The Ledgers (13-0) won their second straight state championship and fourth overall.

The Ledgers held all 13 opponents this season to 14 points or fewer. On Thursday they limited the Ramblers (12-1) to minus 9 passing yards. The previous all-division record was held by Spring Valley, which yielded minus 6 passing yards to Highland in 2000.

Regis was playing in its first state title game since 2009. Its defense had five shutouts this season but couldn't stop a balanced Ledgers offense.
