Theascena Scholarship Program was developed in 1996 and has given scholarships to more than 401 children of associates at dressbarn, maurices and justice brands, funded by the Jaffe Family Foundation and Ascena Retail Group Inc.
The scholarships are awarded based on grade point average, extra-curricular activities, future goals, a student essay, and financial need. The scholarships average $3,000 to $5,000 per student to help offset higher education expenses.
This year, maurices and dressbarn awarded more than $145,000 in scholarships to deserving students across the country, including Mitchell Ryks of Duluth; he is the son of Kevin Ryks.
