A food-buying club is reopening its doors this month at two Douglas County sites.

Lake Superior SHARE in Superior and North Country Food Buying Club in Solon Springs will offer November food packages for pick-up Nov. 17. Orders must be received by Friday for the November cycle. Call 800-582-4291 to place an order. People can pay with their orders with a credit/debit card, EBT food support or checks.

The SHARE Wisconsin program was shuttered in April due to competition from giant retailers like Wal-Mart. According to Karen Arthur, regional coordinator for Lake Superior SHARE, the food-buying club has returned to Douglas County. The SHARE group is now partnered with the FARE FOR ALL warehouse located in New Hope, Minnesoata, www.fareforall.org.

Everyone is welcome to shop with Lake Superior SHARE. There are no income limits. The club specializes in meat and fresh produce, offering customizable options for buyers. Shopping through SHARE gives customers the dollar power of buying in bulk. People can also sponsor Random Packs of Kindness, which are secret gifts to others. Individuals, families or organizations can either purchase a gift certificate or sponsor a food club order with specific meat and/or produce assortments for a family member, friend, co-worker or neighbor in need.

Order pickup for November is from 10:45 a.m. to noon Nov. 17 at the Peter Rich Community Center, 1201 N. Eighth St., Superior and 11-11:30 a.m. at the Solon Springs Community Center. For more information, look up the Facebook page, LakeSuperiorSHARE or call Karen Arthur, 218-393-2226 in Superior or Rita Garrow, 715-292-2389 in Solon Springs or the SHARE office, 218- 727-2088.
