Harold Anglin of Ashland got his tickets to see Biden the day of the event. He was near the back of the line at the middle school at 2 p.m. but was unconcerned about his chances to see the vice president.
“If we get in, we get in,” said Anglin, a former teacher. “I’m too old to worry about that.”
Anglin has been to his share of political events. In 1968, he attended a rally for presidential candidate George Romney — Mitt Romney’s father.
“I shook George Romney’s hand when I was about 30,” Anglin said. “I shook that man’s hand, and I had an epiphany right there.”
Anglin said his family had voted for Republican candidates “since the time of Lincoln,” but he switched his allegiance to Democratic candidates after his handshake with George Romney.
