VP worth hundreds of miles

Rick Stoehr of Lake Vermilion, Minn. drove 220 miles to see Biden on Friday, and he did it twice.

He drove to Duluth on Oct. 30 hoping to see former President Bill Clinton but was turned away when the venue filled up. After driving back to Lake Vermilion, he learned of Biden’s planned visit to Superior.

“So then we had to drive back down here to get the tickets to this, then we had to turn around and drive back down (Friday),” Stoehr said. “It’s 220 miles round trip.”

Stoehr was near the front of the line for Friday’s event.

“I just want to hear Joe,” Stoehr said. “How much more charismatic can you get unless you’ve got Bill Clinton?”

Stoehr had a chance to see Clinton when he visited Duluth in 1994, and Stoehr said the president was “truly impressive” during that visit.

“We’ll see what Joe does,” Stoehr said. “I think he’ll be energetic.”
