Grandmas launch peaceful toy drive
The Northland Chapter of Grandmothers for Peace begins its 27th peaceful toy drive on Friday. Toys are accepted until Dec. 20. Decorated boxes will be available at local businesses and organizations for donations of unwrapped toys that promote nonviolent play.

Decorated boxes will be available at local businesses and organizations for donations of unwrapped toys that promote nonviolent play. Participating locations in Superior are: Cathedral of Christ the King Church, 1111 Belknap St., the Superior Public Library Children’s Room, 1530 Tower Ave., Take 2 Consignments at 1202 Belknap St., Superior-Douglas County YMCA at 9 21st St., WITC Early Childhood Education Program, 600 N. 21st St. and Superior High School FBLA at 2600 Catlin Ave.
Duluth drop-off locations include the following: UMD Women’s Resource and Action Center, Peace Church., 1111 N. 11th Ave. E., Explorations at 201 W. Superior St., Chester Creek Cafe/Sara’s Table, 1902 E. Eighth St. and Taste of Saigon in the DeWitt-Seitz Building, 394 S. Lake Ave.
Toys are donated to the Loaves and Fishes community, Safe Haven and Daboo’igan in Duluth and CASDA, Toys For Tots, Harbor House and St. Vincent DePaul in Superior. Grandmothers for Peace are asking members of the public to support their toy drive and donate, as well as crafting and purchasing items that encourage creativity and peaceful play for all the young people in your life!
