Wisconsin Public Radio sponsors the 7th Congressional District debate between Democrat Pat Kreitlow, a former state senator and Republican U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy.
The debate runs 7-8 p.m. Nov. 1. in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Retired broadcaster Pat Kelly moderates the debate, and a panel of reporters asks the candidates questions. Reporters include Wisconsin Public Radio reporter Mike Simonson, WRNC-Ashland manager Danielle Kaeding and Superior Telegram editor Shelley Nelson.
While the debate is open to the public, no audience participation is allowed.
“WPR has sponsored the 7th Congressional District debates for 20 years at UW-Superior, and we’re proud to continue that as a public service to the listeners of the 7th Congressional District,” said WPR Bureau reporter Mike Simonson. “This is a good, old-fashioned free debate in the tradition of an independent news media, in a day when political campaigns are besieged by paid political ads. We’re happy that both candidates realize the importance of a free and open debate.”
The debate airs on regional WPR stations KUWS-91.3 FM, Superior; WUWS-90.9 FM, Ashland; WHSA -89.9 FM, Brule; and WSSU-88.5 FM, Superior, and WRNC 97.7 FM and WOJB 88.9 FM.
