Three injured in alcohol-related crash

Three people were injured in a crash Saturday night in Sawyer County, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Three people were injured in a crash Saturday night in Sawyer County, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Steven L. Sutton, 48, of Hayward was driving westbound on County Highway CC, about 1.1 miles east of County Highway H in the town of Hunter. After passing another vehicle, Sutton lost control of his vehicle and it left the roadway, rolled and crashed into the ditch.

Sutton and one of his passengers, Andrew J. Crowe, 22, of Couderay were extricated from the vehicle. They were taken to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth, with life-threatening injuries.

Another passenger, Christa J. Debrot, 39, of Couderay, was ejected from the vehicle. None of the occupants were wearing their seatbelts. She was taken to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire with life-threatening injuries.

Contributing factors to this crash where alcohol and excessive speed, according to the state patrol. The crash remains under investigation.

The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m.
