The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Headquarters Visitor Center in Bayfield’s Old County Courthouse has changed hours of operation.
The headquarters visitor center opens 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday beginning Oct. 1. The center is closed weekends and on federal holidays.
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore’s Visitor Center at Little Sand Bay close for the season Monday.
Permits are required for camping in the national lakeshore throughout the year. Permits can be reserved by calling 715-779-3397 ext. 1 during regular office hours.
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore’s Headquarters Visitor Center is at 415 Washington Ave. in Bayfield. The visitor center features an information desk, exhibits, sales area, and the 20-minute film “On the Edge of Gichigami — Voices of the Apostle Islands.”
Admission is free.
