First Evangelical Covenant celebrates 125 years

The First Evangelical Covenant Church, 3311 Hammond Ave., will be celebrating 125 years of ministry this weekend.

The First Evangelical Covenant Church, 3311 Hammond Ave., will be celebrating 125 years of ministry this weekend.

A banquet is held Saturday evening with a program following. Rev. Philip Staurseth, son of a former pastor, and Pastor of the Ravenswood Covenant Church in Chicago will be the emcee and Rev. Mike Brown, Director of Church Planting for the Northwest Conference will be the guest speaker.

Sunday morning the celebration continues at 9:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, 10:30 a.m. with a special worship service. Guest speaker will be Rev. Jeffrey Burton, pastor of the Lakeview Covenant Church in Duluth.

A special service is planned with former pastors taking part in the service. The public is invited to the Sunday festivities.
