It’s a good time to celebrate, join ‘friends’ at the library

The week of October 21 will mark the sixth annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week. Currently, almost 100 of our community members contribute annually to the Friends of the Superior Public Library and many of these members actively volunteer their time to fundraising efforts that include the annual used book sale held every spring.

The week of October 21 will mark the sixth annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week. Currently, almost 100 of our community members contribute annually to the Friends of the Superior Public Library and many of these members actively volunteer their time to fundraising efforts that include the annual used book sale held every spring.

Our library would be much poorer without the Friends, and I think most patrons would be surprised to learn how many of the services and programs they enjoy are supported by this valuable group. Please contact the library, or better yet, join us at a Friends meeting to find out how to become a member. The next meeting is Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Library Classroom.

Come listen to The Downbeats, an easy listening vocal group, as they perform popular musical selections on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the chandelier area of the library. Refreshments served by the Friends of the Library for this free event.

Due to a computer upgrade, the library’s catalog and internet computers will be unavailable Oct. 23. The library’s web catalog, personal account information, in-house internet computers, and downloadable book services will be unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Gloria Eslinger is the featured artist in the lobby art windows during the month of October. Stop in, and see the beautiful original paintings and glass by this talented artist. The paintings on display are depictions of beginnings, change, and transformation.
