To the Telegram: The lying by the Republican Party has reached a feverish pitch. If anyone tries to convince you Obamacare robbed or gutted Medicare of billions of dollars, the appropriate response is laughter.

The lying by the Republican Party has reached a feverish pitch. If anyone tries to convince you Obamacare robbed or gutted Medicare of billions of dollars, the appropriate response is laughter.
Obamacare has already saved senior citizens millions of dollars nationwide by closing Bush’s Medicare prescription donut-hole — a plan that made pharmaceutical companies rich while forcing many seniors to forgo needed prescriptions due to a lack of coverage.
The consistent tactic by the Republican spin machine is to repeat a lie enough until it is “reality” — Karl Rove, in 2004, even admitted that “we create our own reality.” Please don’t fall for it.
On the flip side, the Ryan and Romney plan slowly destroys Medicare to give the superrich even more tax breaks. I sure wish I could afford the best accountants in the world to get me a 14 percent tax rate like Romney can.
The Medicare-gutting Romney/Ryan plan will subsidize even lower tax-rates for the super-rich. Something else to consider: The Republican Party has fought Medicare for four decades, why would they want to help it now?
