MENOMONIE — The Menomonie Mustangs defeated the Superior High School football team 35-8 Friday night UW-Stout’s Williams Stadium.
Menomonie remained undefeated with the win with record of 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the Big Rivers Conference.
Superior fell to 3-4 and 2-4 and will host Chippewa Falls at 7 p.m. Friday.
Menomonie will play Hudson (7-0, 6-0) for the BRC championship next Friday.
After a scoreless first quarter, Dan Jacques gave Menomonie a 6-0 lead with a 52-yard run with 5:31 left in the half. AJ Naatz’s extra-point kick made it 7-0.
On Superior’s next series a personal foul on Menomonie gave the Spartans a first down at the Mustangs’ 7-yard line. But after a fumble and quarterback sack, Spencer Urban’s apparent touchdown pass to Kyle Turkowski was waved off with an offensive pass interference penalty.
The Spartans remained scoreless when Urban threw an incomplete pass on fourth down and goal at the 31.
Menomonie blew the game open with four touchdowns in the third quarter.
Dylan Harmstron scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 27 yards; Eric Peissig returned a fumble 28 yards for a touchdown and Luke Stanley caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Dakota Paulson. Naatz booted all four extra point for a 35-0 score.

Ben Erickson led Superior on defense with 16 tackles, including 11 solo. Anthony Valentine added six tackles and had Superior’s only sack. Willie Wells also had six tackles.
Jaylon Brown rushed for 41 yards on 13 carries and Spencer Urban was 7-of-15 passing for 75 yards. Mehlum was also 2-of-6 passing for 55 yards. Erickson caught four passes for 46 yards.
Menomonie got 91 yards rushing from Harmston, 79 from Jacques and 72 from Marcus Smith.
The Mustangs outgained the Spartans 311-230 in total yards.
