UWS women's soccer team snaps 6-game skid; volleyball team falls at UWRF
Sophomore Katelyn Adams scored 39 minutes into the game, on an assist from Rachel Wallace, to give the University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s soccer team a 1-0 nonconference win over North Central Wednesday afternoon at the Superior High School soccer fields.
Alexandra Paige and Kalea Hatlewick combined to make six saves in the victory for UWS (3-8). The Rams fall to 3-7-1.
The Yellowjackets outshot the Rams 25-7.
Superior’s goal happened when Wallace attempted to pass the ball to a teammate, but went off a Ram defender and found its way to Adams, who scored her third goal of the season.
Wednesday’s win snapped Superior’s six-game losing streak.
The Yellowjackets (3-8, 0-6 WIAC) host UW-Whitewater at 2 p.m. Saturday at Public Schools Stadium in Duluth.
Volleyball
UW-River Falls defeated UWS 25-23, 25-18, 25-20 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match Wednesday night at the Karges Center in River Falls.
Nikki Gosson had 10 kills for the Yellowjackets (14-8 and 0-3 in WIAC). Kelly Deadrick added 24 set assists and eight digs.
Erin Green had 13 kills for River Falls (15-5 and 3-0).
UWS hosts UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m. Saturday and is at Carleton at 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday.
