Clara Marie DeRosia, 71, of Barnes, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 after a brave fight with cancer.

Clara Marie DeRosia, 71, of Barnes, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 after a brave fight with cancer.

She was born on April 26, 1941, the daughter of Albinand and Catherine (Nicoletti) Larson. Clara was raised in Herbster and graduated from South Shore High School in Port Wing in 1959. Since then she has always enjoyed cardinals and her favorite color was red. She married George DeRosia in Herbster on Sept. 12, 1959. Clara lived and worked in Superior for most of her adult life. She worked as an executive secretary at Fraser Shipyards in Superior and retired from there after 35 years. After retirement, she and Bud moved to their lake property in Barnes. Clara enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, camping, sewing and traveling. She and Bud recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Alaska. Clara was a great example of a wife and mother and she always had a smile and a positive outlook. In May of this year, she walked in the Susan G. Komen 5K Race For The Cure at the Mall of America.

She is survived by her husband George “Bud” DeRosia, Barnes, Wis.; 4 children, Suzanne (Brian) Vos, Kissimmee, Fla., Janine (Steve) Peterson, Chippewa Falls, Wis., Joe (Michelle) DeRosia, Burlington, Wis., and Yvonne (Jay) Hinnenkamp, Hibbing, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, Mandi, Joshua, Tracy, Kathleen, Anita, Kiara, Bethany, Allie, Katie and Kyle; five great-grandchildren, Casey Daniel, Sam, Gabe, Lily and Zander; a sister, Alice (Don) Hudack, Ashland, Wis.; a brother, Ted (Patty) Larson, Iron River; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Hamshire, Eau Claire, Wis.; a brother-in-law, Tom (Joyce) DeRosia, Grand Isle, La. and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Justin Vos and a daughter-in-law, Patti DeRosia.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass of Christian burial, Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward with Fr. Philip Juza officiating. Luncheon will immediately follow the service. Inurnment will take place at the HerbsterCommunity Cemetery at a later date.
