LETTER: Solve U.S. troubles: vote

To the Telegram:

America’s troubles belong to all its citizens, so that is why we each need to think about them before we vote.

There are so many problems in America today. We have an outrageous deficit of more than $16 trillion and climbing, and we are borrowing money just to pay the interest on our debt. We have an unemployment rate of more than 8 percent for more than 40 months, and the cost of food is escalating, gas prices are going up, income is down an average of $4,300 per family, new regulations have or will close more than 100 coal burning electric plants, causing dramatic increases in electric prices.

Our defense department has been weakened, the Middle East is on fire and Europe is threatening the collapse of their monetary system.

Unfortunately, there are more that I can’t think of right now.

The federal government is supposed to be monitoring these things and taking actions to correct them. This administration is simply not doing it.

They may have inherited a bad economy but their plan of action has made things much worse.

I don’t suppose we can expect much more from a president who never ran any kind of business and most of his advisers are from academia rather than the real business world.

We desperately need someone who actually knows something about the economy, repair all the damage that has been done, and get this country back on track before it’s too late.

We need Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Even then, this mess will take time to fix but at least we’ll have a fighting chance.
