Tiger golfers advance to sectionals

The Northwestern High School girls golf team advanced to next week’s WIAA sectional tournament with a second-place finish at Tuesday’s Spooner regional at the Spooner Golf Club.

Hayward won the team title with a combined score of 342. The Tigers were second at 393. Also moving on were Spooner, which finished third at 405; and Eau Claire Regis, 409.

Hayward’s Brittany Neff was the regional medalist with a 78.

Northwestern’s low score was a 95 by senior Gwen LaPole, which was good for seventh place. Other Tiger golfers were: Marissa Delvas, 96; Reggie Semanko, 100; Molly Lattery, 102; and Lyndi Graff, 107.

Also advancing to Tuesday were the four lowest scoring individuals not on an advancing team. Those golfers are Hailey Seifert, Ladysmith, 87; Taylor Hoesley, Chetek/Weyerhaeuser, 93; Aken, Stanley/Boyd, 95; and Emily Anderson, Cumberland, 98.

The sectional tournament is at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Hayward. The top two teams and top three individuals, who are not members of a qualifying team, will advance to the state tournament Oct. 8-9 at Cherokee Country Club in Madison.
